What Happened in Vegas Didn’t Stay in Vegas: Our SHM Converge 2025 Recap

Last week, the PUREDI team took our talents (and a suitcase full of charging cables and chocolate) to SHM Converge 2025 in Las Vegas. Hosted at Mandalay Bay, this conference brought together the top minds in hospital medicine for four days of learning, connecting, and — in true Vegas fashion — a little spectacle.
We went in with a mission: get the word out about PUREDI, have real conversations about billing headaches, and maybe stir up some buzz with a mohawk stunt. Mission: accomplished…mostly.
The Vibe: Hospitalists, Hustle, and High Stakes
This wasn’t your average conference. With over 100 sessions across 15+ educational tracks, SHM Converge felt like the Comic-Con of hospital medicine — minus the cosplay (unless you count the guy with our logo shaved into his head).
From clinical deep-dives to tech talks and wellness workshops, there was something for everyone, whether you were a brand-new hospitalist or a seasoned medical director trying to catch up on the latest in policy, AI, or co-management.
Some standout sessions we heard about:
-
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) & Wellness: SHM Converge 2025 featured sessions focusing on fostering resilience, identifying and mitigating burnout, and promoting sustainability in practice and life.
-
Perioperative Co-Management: The conference included sessions that provided tools to optimize care for patients who would benefit from palliative care during or following their hospitalization.
-
Palliative Care: Hospitalists are optimally situated to provide palliative care to their patients. This track offered tools to enhance the care of patients requiring palliative services during or after hospitalization.
(Also: shoutout to the "Things We Do for No Reason" session for winning best title.)
PUREDI at SHM: Chocolate, Chargers, and a Mohawk
Let’s just say… we didn’t exactly blend in. Between the constant foot traffic, a mysteriously fast-moving chocolate supply, and our team’s MVP — a walking billboard with a full-blown mohawk and the PUREDI logo stenciled into his hair — our booth definitely sparked some curiosity.
At one point, we had folks coming over saying, “Someone told me I had to come get a charger from you.” Not a bad reputation to have. By the end of the show, our table was cleared out, our candy stash was gone, and we’d made a memorable impression. Vegas energy, delivered.
The Real Value: Face Time > FaceTime
Beyond the booth buzz, some of the most valuable moments happened outside the exhibit hall — in hallway chats, session sidebars, and spontaneous happy hour convos. These off-the-cuff connections are where real relationships start, and they gave us a chance to hear what’s top of mind for hospitalists and healthcare leaders in a more personal setting.
From billing bottlenecks to big-picture partnerships, these conversations gave us insight we wouldn’t get over Zoom — and reminded us why showing up in person still matters.
We left with:
-
A handful of new contacts who really get the billing pain points.
-
Early conversations with folks interested in learning how we simplify billing workflows without overhauling their entire EHR stack.
-
A ton of ideas for how we show up even stronger next year.
Final Thoughts
SHM Converge 2025 gave us more than just leads or brand exposure — it gave us context. It reminded us why clarity, efficiency, and support matter so much in the world of hospital medicine. Behind every abstract presentation and badge scan is a clinician trying to do more with less. That’s who we build for.
Next stop: SHM Converge 2026 in Nashville, where the content promises to be “hotter than the chicken.” We’ll be there, better stocked, more caffeinated, and ready to turn more heads — mohawks or not.
